Stealing from your (A)Ham and to continue into numbers, I'm assuming Linds is (A)1 too.

Happy Birthday.

Bob (the cat), (who also loves parentheses) says Happy Birthday also.

Thanks everyone. Linds was hijacked for a few hours by her Dad/Nan so I stayed home and assembled her new vanity that I'd bought her. Then I rearranged her room in order to fit it in there...I managed to break her computer & her favorite sunglasses in the process. She's so great...she wasn't t he least bit upset and just took it all in stride.

Maybe some of you know this...I'd shut down/unplugged her pc and moved it to a new location. When I plugged it back in it was completely dead - no power. All the other components worked - monitor, scanner, printer, etc. Just the tower was dead! Any suggestions?

First, make sure that outlet works. It's not uncommon for one half to work and the other not. Sometimes they set them up so that the top one is connected to the lightswitch for the room.

Then, try a different power cord. (It will unplug at the back of the PC)

If you're still SOL, you're going to have to take the case into a repair place to check the power supply.

Day late and a dollar short as usual.
Happy birthday

I'm with whitenoise if you turn the power on to the tower and there is no whirring fan noise probably a power supply, sometime it can just be the on button is broken also.

Thanks guys...appreciate the troubleshooting. I have a feeling it might be the on/off button.

Hey maybe you have to do what I do when I have to turn my tower off. My internal power supply is slowly cacking and on the occassions when I have to turn it off compleletely, it only turns on again when I lay the tower on it's side before turning it on. Then everything's fine again *shrugs*

Damn computers, hey? :P

Oh, I'm going to try that! Thanks Alana. (And, if that doesn't do it, maybe throwing it out the window first?).

That option ALWAYS works. Just make sure to aim for the driveway, the lawn tends to provide too much cushioning.

Deb, if you haven't gotten it going yet, make sure you didn't flick the switch on the back of the computer by mistake. Most have a push switch with either - or 0. It should be "-" not "0".
