I agree with Mel.
Although they both have there strong points.
I'll have to third that, although I do like the NIN version. But the Cash version is so poignant.
Well, it's unanimous. Johnny wins, hands down. I really love his version too Mel. And the video, with the clips of him....
Al & Barb...I really loved the NIN song and I'm a hard sell on covers. But man, Johnny did really make it his song (as Trent said).
I've been a fan of Johnny Cash since I saw him play at an outdoor concert in Lac la Ronge Saskatchewan. He use to go fishing there and they asked him if he would do a concert as a fund raiser, not only did he agree but he brought his 25 piece orchestra with him...His version has such feeling and depth, the stark images in the NIN version were something though....
crap i just realized that was 1982...25 years ago...my how time flies
