These Are A Few Of My Fav-O-Rite Things

One thing I made sure that I kept/hid when I was going through my separation was the fairly extensive album collection that K and I had acquired over the years. Although he put his initials on/claimed most of them, it's funny how that works...I paid for them. Remember awhile ago when I was posting some of my favorite album covers? Well, I think I'll start that again, there are so many good ones to share.

These are some of my Pink Floyd albums. The actual albums are in mint condition...mostly because I bought some twice??? I did that a lot back then - don't really know why.

And the reason I can't sleep/am up all night again...late night hospice visit and it's becoming more and more evident that she's slowly losing the battle. Heartfuckingwrenching.

I'm sorry about your sick relative. On a more pleasant note, those are not only some of the best album covers, they are some of the best albums, as well.

I have cds I've bought twice, when I was going through certain phases with artists. I like looking at album art, as I have so few, its nice to see others.

The hubby has quite an amazing album collection as well, and I've seen Eva pull them out to look at the covers. Actually I bought him a book about album covers for Christmas - it's pretty cool.

I'm really sorry that your mom seems to be slipping away. I wish there were something I could say to make it better.

First you buy the album. Then you buy the "original master recording" on special, "limited-edition vinyl". Then you buy the CD. Then you buy the "re-mastered from the original master tapes" CD. Two years from now you will buy the "audio-enhanced, blu-ray super-DVD", which will be remixed from the original master-recording. This will continue until you die or run out of money, whichever comes first.

Thanks tfg...both for stopping by and the kind words. They are some of the best albums and, after talking about them on another blog, I felt the need to pull them out/hear them. (Although I no longer have a "record player" so I had to use other sources). I love your blog and am going back there to read more.

Al, I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing double when I look at my collection. I love the art too.

Barb...I'd love a book like that - what a great gift. Does Jerry still have something to play them on, or does he just pull them out, ogle and caress them, and then put them away again, as I do?

kelly...."d'oh" (slaps forheard). Actually, that's not a bad idea - they went for a very good cause and
most who scout them out at sales really appreciate them. We have a thrift store here and people go straight for the albums.

Whitenoise...that sums it up quite nicely!

mustafa...welcome aboard. Although I cannot speak/understand Turkish, I enjoyed looking at your blog.

When I clicked on your blog I thought I was looking at my brother's old albums! I gave a lot but not all of my old albums to girl that was into albums and the likes of Dylan and Joni Mitchell. I kind of liked knowing they were going to someone that would listen to them.

tc...that's the key - getting them to someone who appreciates them vs someone who uses them as clay pigeons.

Your record collection sounds pretty amazing, but the important question is...Do you have any Wham!?

No, I must confess lala - no Wham. But I do have a George Michaels cassette...does that count?

thanks mel...I was too exhausted to even go tonight. I did the laundromat and it took way longer than I'd expected. Tonight, for the first time in ages, I started to drift off early (11:30'ish). Then the ex phoned and woke me up. This was the conversation. "Were you sleeping?"...."almost". "Who's the guy doing the first song on the cd you made me?". At which I point I had to go to my computer and check the playlist. Problem, it wasn't the last cd I made him, it was the one before. I told him it was Tom Waits. Then he asked me a bunch of questions about him (including "did you know he's white"...."ya"). Apparently he'd just seen him on TV. So now I'm back up and can't sleep. Drunk dialing is so annoying!
