COOL COVERS

I've decided that, since my entire album collection is unuseable (no turntable), I'd at least like to share some of my favorite album covers. Oh, for those of you under 30, "albums" are these round vinyl discs that we once had. No, they do not form crop circles.

For me, CD's just ain't got what it takes when you put them up against vinyl.....album covers were sometimes almost as great as the music itself. I especially liked it when the artist(s) had a hand in them, like this one by John Entwistle. So, this is my first installment of "Cool Covers".

Thanks Mel. I just opened up the chest today to check something out and felt like I was neglecting my babies. I started going through some old stuff and realized I was missing album "art". Actually, it was your Melanie post that started this....I was checking to see if I had her album....which I discovered I don't . :( I always thought I did.

Nice cover, I love pencil drawings!
Album covers are so much nicer than cds. I wish I owned a record player so I could buy albums.

I wish I owned a record player too Allison. I got rid of my stereo a long time ago, in favor of a micro mini CD unit. So, even if I had a turntable, I'd still need a receiver, speakers, etc.

I have all this really good music that I've forgotten about and no way to play it. Sucks.

This cover was pretty great. It was a follow the dots that John Entwistle did and the likenesses are pretty damn good...especially Moon "the Loon".

Some of mine are getting a bit "worn" Ben...what a good idea - to frame them. My daughter just noticed the open chest and tried to swipe a few...she said she wanted to make "wallpaper" for her room. Hhhmm...not quite sure about that. I think we'll have to come up with a new plan.

I'm a huge fan of album covers as well. Jerry's got quite a collection, which we also can't play, although we should just get the damn receiver fixed.
I'm concerned though that soon even cd covers will be done away with and then what will we look at? And how will we read liner notes?

That album cover is sooo cool. I still love vinyl and have a record player hooked up to my computer. Just about all of my records are still at my mom's, but hopefully I will transfer them over soon.

Isn't it silly, Barbara, that we have all this great music at our fingertips and don't bother to rig up something to play it on? I keep hearing songs and going, "oh, I remember that...I have that album". CD's come in those cases that are impossible to open without explosives, so ours all end up cracked and the liners go missing.

Hooking up to your computer sounds interesting...I bet it's not that hard to do if you have the right cables. That's something to consider Will. Hopefully your mom won't have a garage sale.....
