Well, although I had more to post, blogger's again giving me the run around so here's what I was able to do. Tomorrow (when I have more time patience), I'll post the pics from my walk.
This is the Olympic Oval in the works...the speed skating events will be held here in 2010.
The oval site is directly across from the airport (with mountains as the backdrop), providing some great views.

It'll be an intersting time, won't it? I spent a lot of time in Atlanta prior to and just after the '96 games. I remember one teeshirt I saw that said "Can I have my city back now?"
That's pretty much the general consensus around here. The back should read "yeah, but it's gonna cost you".
For as much as I love the games, holy disruption Batman.
Yeah I was in and around Atlanta a lot back then also (my sis lives there) and it does seem totally disruptive and the sites end up falling into disrepair and never getting used again.
During the 96' games the band was sitting in a hotel room watching when they did one of those athlete profile type of things, and the background music was us that was one of the coolest things ever.
General disruptiveness is what I felt living in Van, and that was just for a few summers.
Lovely photos, though. :)
Blogger giving you the runaround... what a surprise THAT is... have you ever had the thing when you've tapped in a massive post, without saving it, only to press "publish" and the message comes up "error whatever please try again" ~ and your entire post has been LOST! ... ~ (??)
How many Calgarians does it take to change a lightbulb?
Twelve. One to change the bulb and the other eleven to talk about how great the 88 Olympics were.
Feel free to use that for your town. It will apply.
junky...pretty cool, to have your music included like that.
Al...it's even worse now. Can barely get from one end of No. 3 Road to the other. So I never even attempt it any more.
gled...now that it autosaves, I don't experience that any more. But have in the past and it's so frustrating.
Barb...I'll be stealing that alright.
