My fucking country pisses me off, used to be you could buy a poppy on every corner today, no more it's almost like we have collectively forgotten what countless men and women have done for us.
I do literally blame this on Nancy Reagan and her "war on drugs" she had the poppies removed from Monticello, it was about that time the guys selling poppies disappeared, then she has the nerve to be higher than a witch doctor and fall of a chair.
I have about 8 this year.
They are EVERYWHERE here and I love it.
Only problem, the assholes who rip off the collection tins!! Yes, some do stoop that low.
Nice pic, always seems to be raining on this day.
We actually went to the cemetery (to visit Jerry's dad) and it was really quite special to do so on Remembrance Day.
It's weird what Junky says because this seems to have been the biggest Remembrance Day over here for a long time... either that or I'm just more tuned into it this year...
i must say i agree with junky i didnt see a single vetran giving out popies this year. altho i didnt know nancy reagan had anything to do with it.
... big in the media... I've not seen poppies sold for years...
I think they probably sell them at the tills in the local supermarket?
or somewhere like that
I don't think veterans sell them themselves... all the money raised is supposed to go to giving them a proper retirement home for their old age
